In Aomori Prefecture is the primeval beech forest of Shirakami, registered as a World Natural Heritage Site, where you can find the largest number of virgin beech trees in Japan. To utilize them, beech wood is used to produce tableware, lamps, and audio speakers using the technique called Bunaco. Bunaco is a method where thin slices of beech wood are wound like a coil and molded into products that boast unique beauty and warmth.
