JONGHLABEL is an Amsterdam based design label that combines innovative design with artisan production techniques. Its latest project ‘MATMATIC’ innovates the craft of traditional hand caning of chairs. This craft is known for its use of rattan and the hexagonal pattern. The material, rattan, is fixed due to the craft. Innovation occurred by experimenting with new patterns, coloring experiments and rattan techniques. The collection is completely made out of rattan. While honoring the traditional crafts, these innovations are brought together in a specially designed collection.
