Rigaud was founded in Paris in 1852 and became a world-renowned perfume house. In 1960, Mario Rigaud created the first scented candle in the world: Cyprès de Rigaud. Our candles continue to be made in France and are the worldwide finest candles.
Rigaud was founded in 1852 by Jean Baptiste Rigaud who proved himself to be a parfumer of genius. In 1960, Mario and Viviane Rigaud conceived an entirely new product: the world’s first scented candle. The result in 1959 was their masterpiece: Cyprès, dark, forest green in colour, with a red ribbon and presented with a silver snuffer. A patented soft wax was specifically developed to release and diffuse its fragrance with both intensity and longevity. It was this classic creation that gave rise to the global phenomenon of the scented candle. However, no-one has ever matched this sublime Bougie.
