SHIOZAWA KUMIKO

Harmony between nature, tradition and unique techniques: the delicately rendered "World of Kumiko Shiozawa". Kumiko work is a traditional Japanese craft that combines thin pieces of wood without using nails to create intricate geometric patterns.

Shiozawa kumiko is a traditional geometric pattern of kumiko assembled in the style of paintings with minimal processing, using between 50,000 and 80,000 pieces, and as many as 150,000 pieces for large pieces, each one assembled by hand. Each piece is a work of art, with 32 different colours woven into the natural colouring of the wood. The beautiful traditional techniques handed down by craftsmen and the new techniques unique to Shiozawa Kogei create 'one-of-a-kind Kumiko'. We are challenging the world of art interior design that matches a variety of spaces.
