Nakamura, founded in 1923 has been managing the maintenance of kimonos in Kanda, Tokyo. The company has traditionally operated as a shikkaiya, a coordinator of artisans, ensuring that the right craftsmen handle the various aspects of textile care. In recent years, Nakamura has been coordinating a wide range of Japanese techniques to produce mostly noren. The noren is a traditional Japanese fabric used as dividers, shop display fabrics, or interior textile decorative items.
