Matsuzaki Ningyo is a traditional Japanese doll maker founded in Tokyo in 1920.

Matsuzaki Ningyo is a traditional Japanese doll maker founded in Tokyo in 1920. For over a century, the company has created ningyo offered during annual celebrations, representing the imperial family or heroic samurai as symbols of prosperity and happiness. The dolls are crafted using the Kimekomi technique developed in the 18th century, with paulownia sawdust bodies and carefully tucked fabrics. Under the brand Koikko (“glare of good fortune”), Matsuzaki also developed the Anima series, using the same traditional materials and techniques.
