CATHY ASTOLFI
Atmosphere of wild maquis and mountain Corsica for these bowls in sandstone. The plastic artist Cathy Astolfi is devoted to contemporary ceramics revisiting the ancestral techniques of modeling and the red clays of her island: Corsica.
The artist imagined a line of crockery and containers which tells the story of the Earth and the proximity of the sea. Each piece is unique, delicate and silky, rustic and magmatic: it is a hymn to wild Nature. The objects are made of white or black stoneware, porcelain and mixed earths. The footprints hollow out textures inspired by the island's plant and mineral diversity. The enamelled decorations are applied with a brush. The pieces are pleasing to the eye and to the touch and are perfectly suited for everyday use. The artist only shapes small series.
