MOKUNEJI

The industrial arts.

The history of Yamanaka-Japan ware wood lathes technique goes way back into Nara period, when the Million-Tower(1), which still exists today, were built through this wood lathes technique and were presented to the shrines all over the country. MokuNeji product series is a whole new field of “Industrial arts”, made from the respectful wood lathes technique of Yamanaka-Japan ware and an intricate screw head technique. A small tower to honor and pray for the dead (about 10inch length). The name Million-Tower is derived from how 1 million of these towers were built in those days.
