Ghashgha'i meets Bauhaus Collection
The extensive use of geometrical and abstract patterns together with the vivid naturally dyed colours of Ghashgha’i weavings have analogies with the studies and learnings of the Bauhaus movement, in particular, Josef Albers. He studied in depth the interaction of colour and human perception. In his universe, colour seduced, beguiled, swindled – a concept at the very heart of this collection. SoFar SoNear, Milan, have chosen iconic Ghashgha’i motifs – lion, peacock, woman and man – that they simplified using squares and triangles, merging the style of Gabbehs with the drawings of Albers.
