Product description
This hand-carved mammoth ivory okimono depicts a peaceful scene of loving devotion – a man holding a parasol over a woman’s head to protect her from the sun. Although they are barefoot and their parasol is too small for the two of them, they look very happy to live this moment together. The patterns of their clothes were beautifully carved and painted by hand, and fabric movement along with the couple’s expression most minutely conveyed.
