The hypnotic percussiveness of the Carioca rhythms is achieved with primary instruments: the hands. To pay homage to the hands of the Black Slaves, the first Brazilian percussionists who could batucar drums and make people dance in a mixture of music and religion, Batucada seems to want to hold the precious source of light between two hands, hiding it or revealing it when needed.
