Storming the world of interior decoration in recent years due to their highly popular Art Deco style, these ancient kilims with floral patterns have a fascinating and little-known history. Also known as Bessarabian kilims, they are woven entirely from sheep's wool in various parts of Moldova by Turkophone Christian peoples who continue a millennia-old tradition of flat weaving. Their patterns are inspired by designs (sketches) from French Aubusson tapestries that circulated in Moldova in the mid-20th century, hence their Louis XVI style
