Product description

OYA" lace is made by Anatolian women using very fine needlework and thread, sometimes enhanced with pearls to emphasize the motifs. Christine Delpal revisits this traditional art with a collection of delicate jewelry. An arabesque ornament all in lace; the eternal feminine. A contemporary blend of cultures Oya necklaces were born from the blending of Turkish lacemaking tradition and the travelled eye of Christine Delpal, creator of the Karawan brand. The powerful and promising encounter with Hanifa and her sisters, villagers from Anatolia, was an obvious choice. Since its foundation, Karawan has been committed to promoting the craftsmanship of the Silk Roads, by creating unique collections that Christine revisits through design, to keep them alive, in a spirit of economic solidarity. A shared desire to pass on and support the professionalization of exceptional women's traditional skills, often limited to the domestic sphere, as a source of income and innovation. Christine spent many long days with Hanifa in the mountains of Anatolia, and together they co-created a range of jewelry inspired by the region's telluric colors and the changing rhythm of the seasons. The sets can be coordinated as desired or staggered... with the feminine adornment of lace as the only guiding thread! Since 2010, 30 women from the surrounding villages have come together to form
