Ikats

From all around the Indian Ocean, Raffia Ikats are traditional of the North West forests of Madagascar. Ethnic, they are hand-tied, hand-woven in traditional looms, they present a wide variety of geometrical or stylized patterns in a multitude of colors and natural tannins: indigo, Harungana yellow, mangrove tree red. Raffia forests in the North West of the Big Island produce a long and resistant fibre which allows different uses ranging from decorative panel to padding. This product is also made in hand-spun cotton and hand-woven from Madagascar.
