Product description
Tanggeon is the headgear worn to support Gat, the hat for men in the old days of Korea. While Gat was used when going out, Tanggeon would often be used as hats men could wear comfortably inside. Horsehair or the oxtail were used as materials for Tanggeon. They were produced the most in Jeju-do Island, as the hair from ponies in that area were considered the best. There are variations to Tanggeons based on how many layers they have. At the 2024 Maison&Objet, the diverse patterns of Tanggones are reinterpreted into lightings complete with three patterns.
