Product description

Duo of carved wooden sticks, ancient traditional Indonesian weaving tools. They were used in the Tenun technique, a traditional Indonesian weaving technique in Sumatra. Indonesian textile craftsmanship is one of the richest in the world with a great diversity of weaving, dyeing and patterning techniques. Among the best-known weaving techniques: Ikat which is an ancient dyeing technique from South-East Asia, where the coils of weft threads are tied in section to prevent the entire fiber from coloring. After rinsing and unknotting, the thread can be mounted on the loom; songket which is a type of brocade, silk embroidered with gold and silver thread patterns reserved for luxurious outfits such as weddings.
