Ikat (from the Indonesian ikat, "to tie, to tie") is a process of dyeing and weaving in which the design is created by first dyeing the weft thread, or the warp thread, of all the colors that will appear there, at very precise intervals, so that at the time of weaving the elements of the design are created by the juxtaposition of the parts of the thread of the appropriate color.
