Louis Spirinx was a prominent Parisian engraver, known for his work in the 18th century. Spirinx was a key figure in the development of mapmaking during the period. He mentored the renowned cartographer Nicolas de Fer from age 12 who became Royal Cartographer to the court of King Louis XIV. The original map was not made in the usual copperplate print. It looked to be hand drawn. Our replica is the result of that hand drawn original, using a color palette familiar at the the time. 8cm Terrestrial Globe with hand-turned mahogany handle and finial.
