"For this project, I wanted a much larger size than I usually make in ceramics. The idea was to use a simple material, usually used for everyday objects, to make an unusual piece. I really like the idea of making an artistic object out of something as simple as a willow that you cut to weave and which grows back. Wicker is light, unlike ceramics, and I really like the contrast with the pieces I usually make. That’s why I chose to name them Grindel, in reference to the children’s story Grain d’Aile by Paul Eluard about a very light little girl who wants to fly like the birds."
