Artist Yeong-rak Jung is the daughter-in-law and appointed heir of Il-man Kim, designated as Korea’s Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 96 (Master of Onggi) and holder of Gyeonggi Province Intangible Cultural Property No. 37. A graduate in ceramics from Ewha Womans University, Jung dedicates her artistry to the nuanced contemporary reinterpretation of traditional onggi¹, grounded in profound reverence and deep-rooted passion for this cultural legacy. Historically cherished for its role in food preservation, onggi remains inseparable from Korea’s culinary heritage.
