Its name means “space between two columns.” The cabinet is set at a generous distance from its four legs, creating the impression that it floats, suspended in mid-air. Each Hashirama sideboard is handmade by artisans from the mountainous Hida–Takayama region, renowned for their ancient craftsmanship in building imperial palaces and temples.
