Product description

MATERIAL - Natural lead-free glazed clay - All Kiliim products are handmade, making each product unique. CARE - Hand wash with soap and water. Dense with Bougainvillea blossoms, palm trees and domed adobe rooftops, Tunis is a picturesque village that sits between Lake Qaroun and the desert dunes of the Fayoum Oasis. In the 1980’s, Swiss ceramic artist Evelyn Porret introduced the village children to handicrafts when she founded a pottery school. Using clay from the Nile banks of Aswan, its graduates have become Tunis’s master potters who give the village and its pottery a unique aesthetic and style, adorning the pieces with primitive motifs from the flora and fauna of their surroundings; an identity that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
