The beach buggy is a type of automobile invented by Bruce Meyers, a Californian engineer and surfer. He wanted a lightweight vehicle that people could take to the beach. He developed a chassis and a fiberglass body, then added the engine from a VW Beetle, launching the buggy craze with the Meyers Manx. The kits he sold, however, were expensive. The idea was a good one, though, as his design was soon copied. Our model is based on the unique version that Con-Ferr developed at the request of Steve McQueen for the film The Thomas Crown Affair. In a shimmering green color, it features wide tires, headlights built into the body, a wraparound windshield, and a reproduction of the "big" Chevrolet Corvair engine. This model is fitted with suspension.
