Product description

“A Prayer for Change” is a contemplative portrait that channels the silent hope of a woman envisioning a world without imposed borders. I made her gaze so serene yet strong, and her adornment is rooted in cultural pride, where the fractured map behind her echoes the political lines that continue to divide a people who are inherently one. Through the use of mixed media, collaged maps, painted textures, and deliberate cracks, the work meditates on how geography has been weaponized to define worth, access, and belonging. Yet, in her stillness, she prays not for escape, but for awakening. This piece is both a personal and political prayer, a call for collective memory, healing, and the recognition that identity is deeper than borders. This piece is part of my broader research on a borderless Africa, this work urges viewers to consider how inherited lines can be redrawn through empathy, imagination, and spiritual alignment.
