They are often found in domestic gardens, courtyards, or water temples. They are generally cut from clear volcanic limestone that is quickly covered with moss and lichens in the tropical climate, an aesthetically sought-after evolution that places the sculpture in a living and organic cycle. Formally, there are several types of sculptures such as squatting guards, divine or semi-divine figures, ornamental patterns or elements related to water. Frogs are very strongly linked to water, rice fields, and rain cycles.
