Stone sculptures are an important part of daily life and Balinese spirituality. They are often found in domestic gardens, courtyards, or water temples. They are generally cut from clear volcanic limestone that is quickly covered with moss and lichens in the tropical climate, an aesthetically sought after evolution that places the sculpture in a living and organic cycle.
