Product description
WW TS 011-12. 10 A; 250 V; with screw terminals for rigid and flexible wires up to 2.5 mm2; Insert: 533-2 U. Wemel Wood thermowood light switches and sockets are made by combining a thermally modified wooden outer frame with a standard electrical switch mechanism (from Jung) inside. We use thermally modified ash which goes through a thermal modification (“thermowood” process) where the material is heated in special kilns to around 220°C with steam and very low oxygen. No chemicals are used. Heat removes moisture, resins, and sugars from the wood cells. The wood becomes more dimensionally stable, more moisture resistant, less likely to warp or crack, darker and richer in color, less conductive to humidity changes. Precision woodworking machines cut the thermowood into switch frames, outlet covers, dimmer plates, multi-gang panels. Holes and mounting points are milled very accurately. Only natural oil, wax, or black stain is added. The wooden part is the visible exterior. Inside is a certified electrical mechanism from Jung. The electrical parts remain plastic/metal for insulation and safety. Safety testing: Products are tested for: heat resistance, fire behavior, dimensional stability, electrical safety compliance. A key point is that the thermowood itself is not carrying electricity — it acts as a decorative and durable outer housing, while the certified insulated mechanism inside handles the electrical switching safely.
