Indigo fabrics, made by the Dogon tribe in Mali, were recently recognized by UNESCO as part of the world heritage. The beautiful indigo fabrics are created by a local cooperative organized by women. Natural indigo dye is made from the fermented leaves of indigo and gives fabrics their characteristic intense dark blue color combined with power, magic, and divinity. The traditional printing techniques used, such as tie dye, batik, and block printing, come to life.
