For her latest ceramic collection named Charly, Marie Michielssen designed a ceramic tableware series that perfectly balances contemporary playfulness with the restraint of classic china. Colourful motifs in vibrant colours decorate the edges of the items, creating a joyful atmosphere yet leaving ample space for the ingredients itself. Some plates are finished with subtly scalloped edges which encourage mix-and-matching with other plates of this or any other collection. Charly balances the aesthetic of traditional china with a certain chunkiness, making the collection feel playful and modern. As a result, this new collection of Marie evokes the casual charm of mix&matching often found in holiday homes — only in a more refined interpretation. In short: forever summer.
