Product description

Set of six handmade stoneware plates, probably from the second half of the 20th century. Slightly hollow round shape, thick and irregular edge, shiny enamel in beige, cream and honey brown tones. Reverse left mostly raw, which reveals the pink to brown color of the earth and traces of manufacture. The differences in color, enamel and shape from one plate to another bear witness to artisanal production and give the whole thing beautiful material effects. This tableware with simple shapes and natural glazes is part of the revival of utility ceramics that developed from the years 1960-1970, with a renewed interest in stoneware, turning and deliberately ununiform surfaces. Their raw, rustic appearance, reinforced by the thick edges and visible soil, gives them an almost brutalist aesthetic that works particularly well today with natural linen, raw wood, metal cutlery, metal cutlery, or more minimal tableware. Dimensions: height 3 cm; diameter 20 cm. Weight of the set: 2 kg. Good general condition, with variations in shape, color and enamel due to their handcrafted manufacture. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
