Product description

Set of six handmade ceramic soup plates, probably from the second half of the 20th century. Low and rounded shape, slightly irregular edge, interior covered with a slightly speckled light beige glossy enamel. Exterior and back in shades of terracotta, brown and beige, with sensitive variations from one piece to another and visible traces of turning. The contrast between the clear enamelled interior and the rawer earth on the outside underlines the construction of each plate and produces beautiful material effects. This aesthetic is part of the revival of utility ceramics and table stoneware from the years 1960-1970, marked by simple shapes and an emphasis on the irregularities of artisanal manufacturing. Their clean design, their thick edge and their rustic materiality give them an almost brutalist presence, interesting today for serving pasta, soups or dishes in sauce, combined with natural linen, raw wood or metal cutlery. In the absence of an identifiable signature or marking, no precise origin can be attributed to this set. Dimensions: height 4 cm; diameter 19.5 cm. Overall weight: 3 kg. Good general condition, with slight variations in shape, color and enamel due to their handcrafted manufacture. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
