Worked entirely by hand on deep indigo Dong cloth, this large trivet features a trailing composition of flowering epiphyllum — slender stems, ribbed pods, and small blossoms in pink and yellow scattered across the dark ground. The line work is stitched freehand, so no two pieces repeat exactly. A dense multicolour fringe in green, blue, and earth tones frames all four sides, echoing the palette of the embroidery. Made to sit under a teapot, hot dish, or vase, it works equally well as a decorative textile in its own right.
