The deep red of garnet, set in black oak. A round pendant in ancient bog oak from deposits radiocarbon-dated to around 7,500 years. The oak's deep black is entirely natural: it formed without any dye, through long contact between the wood, water and minerals. A red garnet is set at its centre, surrounded by decorative golden grains that light the composition with a warm glow. The circle draws the eye to the centre of the composition, so the material takes the lead. About 24 mm across — discreet and light, comfortable for everyday wear. A high-gloss finish emphasises the depth of the materials.
