Product description

Antique turned terracotta carafe, probably from the end of the 19th or the beginning of the 20th century. Belly shape with a stable base, marked shoulder, cylindrical neck and thick lateral handle. Terracotta mostly beige and matt, with some dark brown areas around the cervix and lip. The surface retains numerous horizontal turning streaks, traces of shaping and small irregularities linked to artisanal manufacturing. Its shape and construction are part of the tradition of ancient utility pottery, produced for the storage and service of liquids. With no known marking or origin, no specific regional origin can be attributed to this copy. Its raw material, natural color and irregularities give it a rustic aesthetic, close to current wabi-sabi sensitivities, which works particularly well with raw wood, natural linen, fiber baskets or handmade ceramics. It can be used as a decorative carafe or as a vase for dried flowers. Dimensions: height 24 cm; width 16 cm. Weight: 1.7 kg. Good old general condition, with surface irregularities and traces of use related to age and craftsmanship. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
