Set of five silver-plated cheese spikes from Maison Silea, intended to indicate cheeses on a platter. Each spade combines an animal figurine in relief with a cartridge with rounded ends, engraved in capitals with the name of the cheese, then with two fine points to be inserted into the dough. Three cows for Camembert, Brie and Emmental, one goat for the goat, one sheep for Roquefort: each animal refers to the milk of the associated cheese. The modeling is meticulous, with finely chiselled curly fleece for the sheep, a coat with long locks for the goat and smooth and polished surfaces for the cows. On a wooden board, a marble top or a slate, they accompany a meal or an aperitif. Together in a bowl, they also form a small set on a sideboard or a kitchen shelf. Height about 7 cm, width about 6 cm. Set weight: 500g Good overall condition. Probably manufactured in the last quarter of the 20th century. Silea, a French silver-plated tableware house, has produced these spikes in several series, with five or six pieces, based on great French cheeses. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
