Flared vase on a molded glass pedestal, in a smoky amber brown hue. The octagonal body rises in four superimposed registers, each slightly wider than the last, up to an open lip with a scalloped edge. The foot, which is also octagonal, consists of successive tiers connected to the body by a short faceted ring. Thick and dense glass, with good transparency, whose hue varies from smoky gray to honey depending on the thickness. The joining lines of the mold remain legible on the foot, a normal trace of this production technique. On a console or a fireplace mantle, it can receive a branch of foliage or a few tall stems, next to dark wood, stone or brass. Height 30 cm, neck width 13.5 cm, foot width 10.5 cm. Weight 1.15 kg. Good general condition, with fine scratches from use and slight traces of friction under the foot. The word “BELGIAN” molded under the foot indicates Belgian manufacture, without allowing the glassware to be identified. The stepped silhouette and the geometric treatment of the facets are part of the Art Deco vocabulary. This type of colored pressed glass vase was produced in Belgium from the interwar period to the middle of the century, especially in Hainaut and the Liège region, which invites us to locate it between the years 1930 and 1950, without further precision.
