Small tubular earthenware soliflora vase, hand painted in shades of blue. Bright white enamel, cream enamelled interior. The cylindrical body is decorated in registers: post friezes at the top and bottom, bands of bows and dots, floral and foliage motif in the center on a blue-washed background. Free line and slight irregularities in the paint, specific to manual work. The underside bears the painted mark “V.L. Portugal”, the number 2369 and a painter's monogram. Portuguese manufacture, probably from the second half of the 20th century. The blue decor on a white background is part of the tradition of Portuguese earthenware and evokes the vocabulary of azulejos. This vase can find its place on a bedside table, a shelf, a window sill or a dining table, with a stem or a few dried flowers. Blue and white can be suitable for bohemian chic or Mediterranean decor as well as for a more refined interior. Height: 12 cm, diameter: 3 cm. Weight: 100g Condition of use: small lack of enamel in the upper part of the body, thin vertical line in the enamel under the collar, unglazed heel stained and worn, body enamel generally in good condition.
