Large earthenware dish from the Boch factory, in La Louvière, Belgium. Slightly bluish white enamel, cobalt blue monochrome decoration, scalloped edge. The basin hosts a Dutch landscape: a farm with thatched roofs under tall trees, two mills on the horizon, a wooden bridge, cows in the meadow and a boat on a canal lined with reeds. A wide border of flowers, foliage, and volutes frames the scene. The landscape is printed and bears the signature “Sonneville” at the bottom right corner, reproduced with the decor; the border seems to be hand painted. The reverse bears the “Delfts” mark and the crowned monogram “MRL” from the Manufacture Royale de La Louvière, the name of the Boch earthenware factory at the end of the 1980s, which places its probable manufacture between 1985 and 1990. Boch Frères has been using blue and white decor in the style of Delft since the end of the 19th century. This dish can find its place on a dining table, a buffet, a console or on the wall of a kitchen or dining room. Cobalt blue on white earthenware can be suitable for a country house or bohemian chic decor, as well as for a more refined interior. Diameter: 39.5 cm, height: 5 cm. Weight: 2 kg. Good general condition, enamel and decoration well preserved on the face, small enamel chip on the reverse near the mark. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
