Mirror from an old wardrobe door, with oak frame. Oak of a brown hue, with a waxed patina. Rectangular bevelled glass, framed by a fine moulding. The left pillar, which served as a shutter, bears a rod sculpted with a continuous pattern of interlocking scales and an openwork brass lock entrance, decorated with finials and volutes. The back, closed by a wooden panel, protects the back from the glass and maintains a long metal hinge. Probable French manufacture, end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. The mirror cabinet became widespread in bourgeois interiors during the 19th century, and its doors, once separated from the cabinet, are now suitable for use as foot mirrors. This mirror can find its place in an entrance, a bedroom or a dressing room, placed against a wall or fixed.
