An artistic manifesto for the preservation of fragile avian life and a triumph of experimental glassmaking. František Jungvirt highlights the vulnerability of the natural world in the exclusive FEATHER ANIMALS collection of unique vase-objects. The bodies of the vases are based on Jungvirt's signature Garden collection, mouth-blown into wooden molds and treated to achieve a distinctive crackled surface. This fine network of fissures, paired with subtle color gradients, beautifully mirrors the shifting seasons and the fragile balance of ecosystems. Perched atop the glass are realistic figurines of endangered bird species native to the Czech Republic—such as the hawfinch, European goldfinch, willow warbler, and Eurasian wren. These birds are individually hand-modeled from opaline glass at the furnace by master craftsman Martin Štefánek and intricately hand-painted by Jungvirt. In a high-stakes experimental process reminiscent of the historic Blaschka biological models, the birds are hot-fused onto the molten surface of the vase directly at the furnace. Every single piece in this limited series remains a signed, numbered, and completely unrepeatable masterpiece of master-tier Czech glass craftsmanship.
