Invented by Shoji Sakurai, father of Akihiro Sakurai, as a new kind of Kokeshi, “Hiina” is a unique product of Sakurai Kokeshi. These entirely handmade dolls, inspired by the traditional Hina-nigyo dolls, are a crystallization of all the skills involved in kokeshi-making, with exquisite designs, complex structures, and multiple carvings.
