Cigale louis sicard 1895
This product is not available on MOM anymore.
Product description
In 1895, one of the most famous Tileries of Marseille asked Louis Sicard to create a corporate gift that clearly symbolized Provence.
He modeled an Earthenware paperweight with a cicada resting on an olive branch and sign it with the motto imagined by the famous Provençal poet, Fréderic Mistral: "Lou Souleù mi fa canta" (The sun makes me sing).
From 1900, Louis Sicard develops his cicada in a wide range of objects whose cicada bouquet holder is the most known today.
The earthenware Cicada is today world famous and is traditionally offered in Provence as Lucky Charm.
