Up until 1850 the tradition was that you decorated your Christmas tree with wreaths and dried fruit, in particular, dried apples. In 1858, a drought in the Vosges area of France decimated the annual apple harvest. That’s why a glass blower had the idea to blow his first baubles, colored red to imitate apples. Reconnecting with the glass blower’s tradition, these superb baubles of an exceptional size are overlaid with an oxidization-likpatina which gives them a sumptuous and magical look, like jewels hung on the tree…
