The Mazandaran kilims are woven using local wool with natural dyes, in the most remote mountainous regions of northwest Iran. These kilims always are woven on a narrow loom , then two or more pieces are stitched together by hand to create a larger piece. Although the process of producing a Mazandaran kilim is quite time consuming, the stunning result is well worth the labour.
