This optical toy of motion images was patented by the Frenchman E. Reynaud in 1877. The improvement of his apparatus over the Zoetrope on the quality of images, resulted in immediate popularity. This scientific toy with animated images relies in retinal persistence phenomenon, which makes us believe we are seeing images in motion. By turning the drum a rapid succession of images is reflected on the mirrors and seemed to move: a perfect animation. Itsmoderniste or Art Noveau decoration, could be customized.With 20 animated color strips to play.
