Balay

The artisans are located on the banks of the Querarí river, in the Vaupés. The Balayes can only be woven by the men of the community, these are woven with natural fibers. For the elaboration of the balayes, one day is spent searching in the jungle for the three-meter palm, another day to scrape and wash the fiber, then it is passed through the stove to obtain the black color. On the third day, they begin to weave. To make a basket, the artisans need the fiber of 60 palms and four days of work.
