Product description

This work expresses the formative pictorial aesthetics by placing the Four Gracious Plants side by side instead of placing them in a line. Such an elaborate depiction through the use of mother of pearl, gilt, silver powder, and other substances increases the splendor and richness of the form of art. The Four Gracious Plants refer to the four types of plants (plum blossoms, orchids or wild orchids, chrysanthemums, and bamboo) that represent the Confucian virtues, which were the independent subject matter preferred by the literati due to their powerful symbols.
