The Mazandaran kilims are woven using local wool with natural dyes, in the most remote mountainous regions of northwest Iran. These kilims are woven on a narrow loom first, then two or more pieces are stitched together by hand to create a bigger piece. The process of producing a Mazandaran kilim is quite time consuming, but the stunning result is well worth the labour.
