The Mazandaran kilims are woven using local wool with vegetable dyes, in the most remote mountainous regions of Iran. These kilims are woven on a narrow loom first, then two or more pieces are stitched together by hand to create a bigger piece. Although the process of producing a Mazandaran kilim is really time consuming, the stunning result is well worth the labour.
