A lighthouse beam across a lacquer-black sea. Prow beacons on cormorant fishing boats illuminating the river’s surface by night. Moonlight filtering into a deep forest. The lacquer on this piece was brought as close to matte as possible--itself a characteristic of Kamakura-bori--to express the faintest gleaming.
